Loterie Romande supported the Winter Youth Olympic Games “Lausanne 2020” with CHF 1’025'000 CHF. This support helped the general organisation of the event that hosted 1'880 athletes aged 15 to 18 from over 80 countries. It also made possible the setting up of various animations and sports initiations during the event. The competition took place in the cantons of Vaud, Valais, Grisons as well as in neighboring France. These Youth Olympic Games encouraged the youth to embrace the positive values of sport like self-respect, respect for others, respect for the environment, friendship between people and cultures.

Created 45 years ago to oppose a major real estate project, the association “Sauver Lavaux” defends the magnificent landscapes and the vineyards of the region. Thanks to Loterie Romande, a book on the history of this region was published in 2019.

The “Lanterne Magique” is an international club that allows children from 6 to 12 years old to discover cinema. The club offers each year a new program of movies that show the best of cinema in all its diversity. A few days before each session, the children receive an illustrated diary, which presents the film. Before the film, they can also attend an interactive show performed by actors. Thanks to Loterie Romande’s support, the “Lanterne Magique” can offer prices that allow everyone to be part of the club.

The company “Le Guignol à Roulettes” is an itinerant puppet theater troupe. They defend a theater close to children, free and imaginative. Le Guignol à Rroulettes is based in Fribourg, Switzerland, and develops most of its activities in this country but it also played in international festivals in France, Spain, Russia and China. Thanks to the continued support of Loterie Romande, the company was able to produce plenty of shows for families and children.

The “Roman d’école” workshops help schoolchildren with reading or writing difficulties to write a story together, under the guidance of an experienced writer. The novel written in class is then prepared for publication as a booklet with contemporary graphics. Finally, the story is read aloud by the students themselves at a public event outside the school. Loterie Romande’s support contributes to the publication of the booklets, which become a tool for promoting reading at school and elsewhere.

The Barry Foundation and the Barryland “Living Museum” ensure the survival of the famous “Saint-Bernard” dogs. Currently, the Barry Foundation owns 35 “Saint-Bernard” dogs. Thanks to Loterie Romande’s support, the Foundation has been able to improve its dogs’ well-being by carrying out renovation work and exterior improvements. The Barryland Museum has also been able to create a permanent, interactive, emotional and didactic discovery space for children from 4 to 12 years old.
