Atelier Joie de Vivre – Agro-Pedagogie

Education and zero hunger: A project for sustainable gardening received USD 7052.

Background

Atelier joie de vivre is a specialized school in Chemin Gernier. This area is a small poor coastal village where the level of education is low in some families. This NGO work with children having difficulties to follow the normal academic curriculum. The school provide the kids with a lunch every day. This is one of the reasons why Lottotech came up with the Agro-Pédagogie project to encourage the students to grow their own vegetables in a healthy way. For this project we collaborated with Le Velo Vert which is an organization specialize in growing bio vegetables, where professionals deliver courses at Atelier joie de vivre.

Project

The Agro-Pégagogie was a pilot project launched in 2018 with the collaboration of Le Velo Vert. Following the positive feedback from Atelier Joie de Vivre and response of the students, Lottotech continued the project in 2019 and this year also. The programme consists of raising awareness around sustainable agriculture, impact of use of chemical products on environment and also how to cultivate crops in a sustainable way.

Further initiatives

Education and poverty: A workshop for literacy: Fabrique ton livre (Write your book) received USD 861.

Background:

At Atelier Joie de Vivre students are encouraged to give their best so that they can be employable and become independent. Even if these students may have some difficulties to follow the normal education system, they are provided with the support necessary so that they can stand on their feet. Thus make up the idea of pushing the students to dream big by making a workshop with United Poets to put Literacy at heart.

Project:

On the occasion of the World Literacy Day, the workshop ‘Fabrique ton Livre’ at Atelier Joie de Vivre was held. This one-day workshop has initiated the students to write a story. At the end of the workshop they were encouraged to share their story in front of the class. The outcome of this workshop was incredible, the students used their creativity and imagination to start somewhere and end up with beautiful handmade books.

Background:

Atelier Mo’zar is an NGO that works with kids in the locality of Roche Bois mainly and others also. For the past years Lottotech made it a priority to help this NGO so that the kids are able to develop their passion for Music. With the support that Atelier Mo’zar gives to these kids they have been able to share their talents for the Jazz music on international platforms through the scholarship obtained by the students.

Project:

For the past three years, Lottotech has supported Atelier Mozar a music school found in Roche Bois, one of the poorest regions of Mauritius. The school aims at developing talents of underprivileged kids not only from Roche Bois but throughout the country. The success of their programme has brought them on international platforms and they participated in Cuba Music Festival, Rio Jazz Music festival and students have also been awarded scholarships for Berklee School of music. With our support 65 beneficiaries are been able to learn and cultivate their passion for music.

Project Ateleir Mo’zar – Fly to the moon project 2020:

The fly to the moon project 2020 is a new project that the NGO which has adapted after having to face the impact of Covid-19. There are four students who were accepted in Berklee School of Music unfortunately due to covid-19 they have to stay in Mauritius where the classes will be online for a duration of 5 weeks. Lottotech is proud for having supported two of them which come from poor family financially for their scholarship with Berklee School of Music. This scholarship is going to help them develop their talents and also have a professional career.

Background:

Future Hope is a NGO operating at Sainte Croix, Future Hope also have 3 other branches in Mauritius. They work with teenagers who need a special environment and that have troubles to cope with the educational system.

Project:

Lottotech has contributed financially to the school program and has also organized a slam session with the kids on the world literacy day. The slam session was hosted by a young writer and Slammer from Congo Lionel Kosi’iska and another animator Djamel. During this session, the kids had the possibility to express themselves, read and interpret some ‘Sirandanes’. Moreover, Djamel also worked with the teenagers on a programme known as the Maganica which is divided in three parts Gamets, Makadam Phylozophy and Gurmica. Gamets uses music, whereas Makadam Phylozophy works in the development of the students in terms of communication and expressing themselves by using body language. And finally Gurmica is a kind of drawing therapy.

Women Leadership Programme, a 9-week training session on concepts and tools that will help women to become future leaders, received US$ 4557.

Background:

Women in Networking (WIN) emerged on the Mauritian scene in 2006 with the objective of empowering women. WIN has, as one of its prime objectives, is to conduct leadership training to Empower Women who want to take a more active role in society and who want to be amongst the decision makers of the island.

Project:

Women Leadership Programme is a platform where women entrepreneurs or women who aspire to become entrepreneurs have a 9-week training session on concepts and tools that will help them to become future leaders. Lottotech in collaboration with Women in Networking and the support of Ministry of gender equality ensures that they have the right information to start their business and run it in a professional way. From digital, communication, marketing to financial courses, Lottotech has trained or impacted about 100 women entrepreneurs.

During this CSR activity, more than 100 kilos of waste were collected by Lottotech employees. The campaign has cost US$ 74.

Project:

Lottotech organized a cleaning campaign at Ile D’Ambre to protect our flora and fauna. With the recent data showing the degradation of the marine life, our employees engaged themselves for the protection of the ecosystem. At the end of this CSR activity more than 100 kilo of waste were collected.

Lottotech helped the shelter in several ways, such as providing financial support (US$ 4996), organized donations and volunteering activities.

Background:

The Safe Haven Halfway Home (SHHH) is a temporary shelter for teenage girls who are homeless due to abuse and rejection from family members. The shelter serves as a residence for people in need; providing them with the necessary skills to re-integrate into society and to better support and care for themselves. These women come from different socio-economic backgrounds and have known various types of violence including physical, sexual, emotional and economic.

Project:

The NGO support women coming from poor family background and victims of violence to become economically independent. They also provide sheltering for one year; link them with job opportunities and to be financially independent. Lottotech helped the shelter in several ways, such as providing financial support, organized donations and volunteering activities.

Background:

Link to Life provide information, counselling and support to anyone, affected by cancer, people presently or previously suffering from cancer, their families & friends as well as the caregivers; and also to create public awareness on the causes, preventions, importance of early detection and progress made in the treatment of cancer in Mauritius and overseas.

Project:

Lottotech has organized a free breast and prostate cancer awareness Programme on the organization of the world cancer day. On the same occasion a Bra bank in collaboration with Against Breast Cancer in UK was organized for two weeks. The Bra Bank is a way of recycling old bra and these will be sent to Africa where bra is not accessible to every woman where about 65 kilo of bra were collected.
