Arkansas Scholarship Lottery to offer retailers reduction in fees; to redeem large prizes by appointment
LITTLE ROCK, Ark., March 20, 2020 -- Per Governor Asa Hutchinson’s directives, the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery (ASL) will be suspending licensing fees for the 1,971 retailers in the state to ease their financial burden being felt due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Beginning Monday, ASL will suspend the collection of the following retailer fees for a period of 90 days:
- Weekly System Fee - $5 per week
- Retailer Bond Fee - $50 per year
- Retailer License Renewal Fee - $50 every two years
- Retailer Application Fee - $100
- Additional Location Fee - $25
- Change of Location Fee - $25
- Change of Responsible Person Fee - $50
“We want to do what we can in these strangely uncertain times to help our retailers,” said ASL Director Bishop Woosley. “The coronavirus pandemic is affecting all businesses, and our retailers are no different. Our retailers are our business partners, and we want to give them a break to help them stay open. We certainly couldn’t do what we do without them.”
Also beginning Monday, winners of $25,000 or more can claim their prizes in person or by mail. However, to claim large prizes in person it must be by appointment only at the Claims Center, 124 W. Capitol Ave. in Little Rock. Appointments can be made for any Monday, Wednesday or Friday between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
All prizes less than $25,000 must be redeemed by mail. Winners should go to the link above to print a claim form and fill it out. Then mail the completed form along with the winning ticket (signed and filled out on the back) and a copy of photo identification to ASL, P.O. Box 3838, Little Rock, AR 72203.
"We continue to monitor the situation daily and will keep the public informed as things evolve,” Woosley said. “Our goal is to continue lottery operations and to help protect the health and safety of the public and our employees until this outbreak is under control.”
To the extent possible, the ASL may extend deadline dates to redeem tickets.
