ATLANTA – March 18, 2014 – MDI Entertainment, LLC, a subsidiary of Scientific Games Corporation (Nasdaq: SGMS), announced today the expansion of its asset library for "The Wizard of Oz." The expansion is a result of Scientific Games' acquisition of WMS Industries Inc. WMS has been a licensee of Warner Bros. Consumer Products for "The Wizard of Oz" property for many years and now that the companies have merged, the assets available to WMS for its gaming machines featuring "The Wizard of Oz" property are available to MDI and its lottery customers as well.
"Licensed games are a great way to engage players. Having access to more licensed artwork is yet another example of how the combined strength of Scientific Games and WMS benefits our lottery customers," said Chuck Kline, Senior Vice President, MDI. "With more artwork and choices available to lotteries, the opportunities to create exciting games and point of sale pieces to market the games are multiplied."
"The availability of the new game assets comes at an opportune time, too, as 'The Wizard of Oz' celebrates its 75th anniversary in 2014," continued Kline. "With increased media attention on it this year, there's never been a better time for lotteries to offer their players a game featuring this classic film."
New game assets include artwork representing themes entitled "Ruby Slippers," "Land of Oz," "Haunted Forest" and "Emerald City." More than 80 still images from the film, as well as an enormous catalog of illustrated images, are now available to lotteries throughout the United States and Canada for game art and marketing materials.
