ATLANTA – June 25, 2014 –Lottery players in Slovakia have a chance to win a trip to North America, thanks to an instant game sold by TIPOS, National Lottery Company (the "Lottery" or "Tipos Lottery"). The game features National Hockey League ("NHL") marks and player images from the National Hockey League Players' Association™ ("NHLPA"), made available to the Lottery via MDI Entertainment, LLC, a subsidiary of Scientific Games Corporation (Nasdaq: SGMS) (the "Company"). MDI has a licensing relationship with the NHL™ and NHLPA, and worked with the Lottery to develop the instant game and 2nd Chance promotion, which offers a grand prize trip for two to the United States or Canada, and tickets to up to five regular season NHL games.
"Ice hockey is extremely popular in Slovakia, and there are many Slovaks in the NHL, so this game presents a very exciting opportunity for our lottery players," said PhDr. Ladislav Kriška, Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of the Lottery. "The chance to win a trip to the United States or Canada to see Slovakia's finest players compete in the NHL is incredibly special, and we are pleased that Scientific Games and MDI have helped make it possible for us to award such a rare and valuable prize."
"This really is an exceptional game, and we were thrilled to work with the Tipos Lottery on its development," said Amy Bergette Hill, Senior Vice President for Lottery Interactive at Scientific Games. "It offers Slovakia's lottery players a once-in-a-lifetime prize opportunity and for the Lottery, it's a full-service package. MDI and Scientific Games are delivering an attractive licensed game with complete back-end support for the 2nd Chance promotion."
The back-end support is being supplied by personnel in Scientific Games offices in several countries, providing full-time technical and game development resources. The platform for the web-based promotion, including aspects of Scientific Games' patented Easy Entry™ ticket validation system, is provided by the corporation's WLA-accredited Vienna data center, with support from its Budapest office. The game's tickets were produced at Scientific Games' printing facility located in Leeds, England, and web codes and hash files for it were programmed and produced there as well. Central project management for the promotion is being handled from offices in the United Kingdom and the United States.
"This was a global effort, and is evidence of Scientific Games' ability to service lotteries throughout the world completely, efficiently and effectively thanks to our expansive footprint and technological expertise," said Amy Bergette Hill. "Our secure 2nd Chance draw system is available internationally and incorporates configurable, responsible gaming tools and safeguards so that we can provide lotteries with promotions that are reliable and compliant within their jurisdictions."
The Tipos Lottery's 2nd Chance promotion is currently running, and will continue until January 2, 2015. Lottery players can enter codes from eligible NHL™ instant game tickets into the Lottery's "Web Chance" microsite, which was designed by Scientific Games. After the promotion ends, one winner will be drawn and will get to choose up to three North American cities to visit, and up to five regular-season hockey games to attend during a 14-day trip for two. Airfare, hotel accommodations, ground transfers and spending money are included in the prize. Travel arrangements and hockey game tickets are being facilitated by MDI.
