Operational Risk & Assurance Security Seminar
A WLA/EL Event
SOS Security & Operational Risk Seminar
This year’s EL Operational Risk & Assurance / WLA Security Seminar will focus on multifaceted aspects of successful player authentication/identification – both online and offline – as failing at this task was identified as one of the most pressing operational risks lotteries are facing nowadays by the Associations’ expert Working Groups. Effective management of operational risks is a critical aspect of business strategy for any organisation and while they cannot be avoided altogether, their impact can be lessened if managed properly.
For many years WLA Security Control Standard (WLA-SCS) certification has been a valued asset for the global lottery sector. A new state-of-the-art framework for the WLA-SCS is now being developed. At this seminar, you will be able to catch a glimpse of the work being done on the new version of the standard.
Whether your lottery is looking to amp up its internal security, comply with regulatory requirements related to potential fraud and money laundering or to provide a safer experience to its players, it is important to know how exactly to secure these processes and how to deal with the related operational risks.
This seminar will aim to provide insights into practices, experiences and learnings of a number of lotteries through the use of real-life examples and some practical tools on how to successfully manage this risk. Among the planned core subjects are: registration process (both online and offline), due diligence and verification of player data, biometrics, misuse of player data, account takeovers, data protection, GDPR, different channels to identify the players, etc. Also, the seminar’s organisation will allow for more time for discussion and participants are welcome to ask questions and interact with the speakers.
We strongly encourage you to join us in Reykjavík, Iceland, from September 2 to 4, to share your experiences and knowledge with your lottery colleagues and to learn from security experts from both inside and outside the lottery sector.
