PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND and LAKELAND, FLORIDA – GTECH Printing Corporation (GPC) announced it will open its new state-of-the-art instant-ticket printing facility in Lakeland, Florida, in the spring of 2009. The new facility will be home to more than 100 GPC employees with plans to add an additional 100+ employees over the next three to five years. In addition, over the same period, GTECH will have invested more than $45 million in developing its production capability in the Lakeland area.

“Working with a world leader such as GTECH has been a tremendous experience,” said Florida Governor Charlie Crist. “Contributing to economic development and job creation in our state is a top priority, and we are accomplishing this through our partnership with GTECH Printing Corporation.”

Ross Dalton, Senior Vice President of GTECH Corporation’s Printed Products and Licensed Content group, today addressed the Lakeland Economic Development Council (LEDC) at its monthly Board Meeting. Mr. Dalton emphasized GPC’s appreciation for all of the hard work that the LEDC and Enterprise Florida, a business relocation resource, have done over the past 18 months.

“We have received a very warm welcome from the Lakeland community business leaders and look forward to growing our business and creating new jobs here,” said Mr. Dalton. “In addition, this new facility will allow us to offer our lottery customers far greater capabilities and will continue to demonstrate our dedication and commitment to superior customer satisfaction and service.”

The new 100,000-square-foot facility in Lakeland will house GPC’s new production capability, which is estimated to produce approximately 11 billion instant tickets annually. The new building is complete with the most advanced security and printing layout that the lottery industry has ever seen and incorporates the latest, most efficient and effective building infrastructure systems for HVAC (Heating, Ventilating, and Air-Conditioning). Numerous industry veterans were consulted on the design and layout of the facility in order to produce the most efficient working environment for all employees. The current Plant City facility will continue to operate as redundant operations.

“Information technology is an important economic cluster for our state. Therefore, we applaud this accomplishment for Lakeland and Polk County and thank GTECH for the jobs and opportunities that will benefit this area of the state,” said John Adams Jr., President and CEO of Enterprise Florida Inc. “The outstanding collaboration of all involved in this effort is helping to position Florida as a business-friendly state.”

“GTECH is a high-skill employer. GTECH’s capital investment, number of jobs and the quality of those jobs, make this project a home run for Lakeland, Polk County, and the State of Florida,” said Steve Scruggs, Executive Director of Lakeland Economic Development Council.

GPC is the fastest growing instant-game manufacturing company in the industry and is currently servicing 17 customers in the United States and 18 more worldwide. GPC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of GTECH Corporation.
